What's New at BasiKneads

Welcome: Rich Vizard, General Manager

We would like to welcome Rich Vizard as the new General Manager of BasiKneads Catering.  Hailing from Provincetown, MA, Rich grew up helping manage the Boonie Doone restaurant, a Cape Cod institution owned by his family for over 50 years.  After moving to Washington, Rich developed his skills in management and sales at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the Washington Post and the Association for Career and Technical Education.  Rich's leadership and strong commitment to customer service make him a welcome addition to the BasiKneads team.   When not establishing new business relationships or closing a deal, Rich enjoys fishing for striped bass, cooking Portuguese dinners, perfecting his golf swing, and spending time with his marvelous wife, Liz, and their five-month old daughter, Audrey.

Welcome: Susan Watterson

Susan Watterson is an honors graduate from L’Academie de Cuisine’s Culinary Career Training program. Since graduating, Susan has held several positions with L’Academie, including three years as Managing Director of the Bethesda Campus and is now completing her third year as a full-time Chef/Instructor with the school.  Susan’s other work experiences include various positions at independent restaurants (Old Angler’s Inn, Obelisk), hotels and inns (The Jefferson Hotel, The Bailiwick Inn, Sheraton Premiere/Tyson’s Corner) and catering (Fresh Start Catering/DC Central Kitchen, Design Cuisine, Fete Accomplie, Catering Company of Washington, Food Glorious Food).  These experiences were all put to good use when Susan took over as Executive Chef of Café Bethesda, a small 50 seat restaurant in suburban Washington.  She is delighted to be back in a catering kitchen and is looking forward to working with Executive Chef Hernan Murno at BasiKneads.

New Office, New Kitchen, and Exciting Promotions!

BasiKneads is on the move!  We are excited to announce that we are in the process of building a new state-of-the-art kitchen and office facility.  The exact location will revealed later in the year, and guarantee that we will be hosting a fabulous open house when doors open this winter.  Leading up to the opening, we will be offering a series of celebratory monthly promotions.  Previous months' promotions have included free champagne toasts, menu discounts, and free music from Chamber Players of Washington.  Call us today to find out about this month's promotion!
